First dedicated Yelp Reservations experience joins the industry’s first in-vehicle commerce platform
DETROIT — Drivers of properly equipped Buick vehicles can now make on-the-go reservations at a variety of restaurants with just a few taps on their infotainment touchscreen. Part of a recent update to Buick Marketplace, Yelp Reservations gives drivers access to thousands of restaurants nationwide. Marketplace, the industry’s first in-vehicle commerce platform, is one more way Buick is using connectivity to enhance vehicles and create new and convenient customer experiences.
Within the Marketplace app, Yelp Reservations allows customers to search for restaurants in a 25-mile radius of their vehicle’s location and reserve a table for up to 10 people. This is the first time Yelp Reservations has been embedded in vehicles.
“Whether drivers want to make a dinner reservation on the go, or get recommendations for restaurants in a new city, the newly added Yelp Reservations brings simple convenience to the car,” said Sam Russell, director of Buick Marketing. “Making new features like this available for vehicles already on the road enhances our vehicles with unexpected new benefits for our customers.”

Yelp Reservations will also be available in the GM Marketplace, powered by Xevo, the leader in connected car software, providing reservation capabilities for more than 3 million Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.
According to a recent Xevo survey of drivers in the U.S. who frequently use apps on their smartphones, 58% said that at least once per week, they decide where to eat after getting into their vehicle. 68% of those surveyed said they would find it helpful to have the option of making a restaurant reservation directly from their in-vehicle touch screen while on their way to dinner.
As demand for new lifestyle experiences meets the availability of smarter and increasingly connected cars, Yelp and GM are pushing the envelope of what’s possible and introducing even more convenient ways to dine out.
