Personalization on the Edge
Carware makes it possible for OEMs to offer consumers a variety of personalized services that move beyond today’s automotive infotainment systems for a personally-tailored in-car user experience. The car infotainment system is designed to be flexible and expandable, making it easy to deliver new services or updates to existing products.
The Xevo Carware Intelligent Edge (XE) is a data-centric platform, backed by full cloud service. Carware uses modern machine-learning technologies to acquire, manage, analyze, and distribute the diverse data flows generated by a connected car. A modern edge OS with automotive support for virtualization, resource management, security, rich OTA integration, and process and namespace isolation, Carware targets Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) and works with other OS platforms that have comparable features.
Carware’s distributed edge network accommodates applications spanning multiple heterogeneous SOCs. Carware is scalable, from very simple, inexpensive configurations such as a single head unit, cockpit, dash display, and smartphone – to extremely sophisticated car infotainment systems with multiple SOCs, internal- and external-facing cameras, dash displays, rearview mirror displays, seat displays, multiple customer handsets, and compute-intensive ML applications.
Carware’s in-car technology incorporates profile information into the navigation system, and can use this information to adjust temperature, seat, or music preferences inside the car – before the driver even gets in.
Carware provides a connected car platform for building rich edge applications hosted on any mix of head units, displays, and handset hardware, delivering full isolation and security support with or without cloud backends to support, manage, and analyze edge activity. Carware automotive infotainment system works with Xevo’s Mobileware and Cloudware to deliver personalized, “smart” journeys to OEM customers.
